Nanjing Tech University signed a cooperation agreement with Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and Moscow State University (MSU) on November 11thto launch the NanjignTech Sino-Russian Institute of Advanced Technologies (IAT), a high-end joint platform that is devoted to fundamental research and application of advanced technologies.
Prof. Sergey M. Aldoshin, Academician and Vice-President of RAS, Prof. Valery V. Lunin, Academician of RAS and Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry of MSUwitnessed the signing and launching ceremony together with Mr. Hong Liu, Vice-Director General of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Mr. Duan Xiong, Vice-Director General of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology and NanjingTech leadership.
Once in operation, IAT will serve as an important platform for cooperation between China and Russia in both fundamental research and hi-tech applications. It is also the first high-end platform of technology cooperation with Russia based in Jiangsu Province.Vice-Director GeneralHong Liu said that the IAT will boost the globalization of Jiangsu’s higher education as well as facilitate China’s strategy of building world-class disciplines and universities. Vice-Director General Duan Xiong also expressed high expectation of IAT, hoping its recourses and talents could contribute to Jiangsu’s striding toward an international innovation and manufacture center.
Before the launching ceremony, Academician Aldoshin congratulated President Huang Wei on his newly-awarded membership of RAS as the world leading scholar in flexible electronics. He expected more all-rounded and close cooperation to follow. Academician and President Huang Wei reiterated in his remarks that RAS, MSU and NanjingTech constitute a strong partnership for they share similar vision and strategy in regard to education, research and development. With joint efforts, IAT could become a demonstration platform of Sino-Russia cooperation in education and science and technology. More importantly, it will contribute to the economic development and cultural exchange of and between two countries.
